International food and drink event IFE13 has announced a new visitor attraction that looks at consumer attitudes towards convenience shopping and how stores may look in the future.
IFE said six final year students been challenged to come up with new convenience store concepts which suit consumer needs, respond to advancements in retail technology and, ultimately make the stores more ‘convenient’ .
Professor Cathy Barnes from the Faraday Centre of Retail Excellence said: “We’re delighted to be involved in such an innovative campaign that really pushes the boundaries of retail design. When they graduate, our students will help shape the future of this industry, so we see this as a fantastic opportunity for them to have a voice so early on in their careers.”
IFE13 event director Chris McCuin said: “We’re really excited about this campaign as the huge pressures on the high street highlight the need for convenience stores to evolve so they can continue to play an important role for consumers. From the outset, we understood the importance of working with these students as their fresh, unbiased approach is sure to result in game changing concepts that inspire the industry.”
IFE is the UK’s largest food and drink event, with over 1200 exhibitors from around the world. It takes place at ExCeL London, 17-20 March 2013.
