With rising demand for innovative solution in food packaging in India, the multibillion plastic packaging industry is scaling new heights. However, in order to become more competitive in global markets, Indian food packaging industry heavily relies on plastic applications in food industry. Food safety, smart machine concepts as a critical success factor in food and beverage packaging, pelletizing of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Polylactic acid (PLA) — pre-requisites for efficient bottle and container production and many others have emerged as a key factors to be considered and work upon.
With an aim to exchange ideas and to explore growth opportunities in food packaging sectors, Organization of Plastic Processors in India (OPP) to organize a 2 day Indo-German seminar on Plastic Applications in Food Industry. The seminar will be held on February 20-21, 2014 at The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore.
As with the rapidly changing urban life style the demand for packaged food is set to skyrocket in coming years. The highly potential Indian plastic packaging industry needs to address the issues such as high output and cost effective production systems for caps and closures, innovation driven solutions for general packaging and film production machinery and robotics and innovative green technology in material handling for polymer processing in packaging applications.
“The 2 day Indo-German seminar will benefit the Indian food industry at large. In international markets or at duty free shops overseas and in India as well, Indian packaged food is very difficult to find out on shelf. Here, the plastic packaging plays a key role. With the use of plastic application in food packaging the Indian food industry will become more competitive and will gain cost effectiveness also”, said Deepak Lawale, Secretary General, OPP. Around 300 delegates from the food industry are expected to attend the seminar.
Spokespersons from leading German companies like Engel, Baumüller, Kautex, BKG Bruckmann and Kreyenborg, Automatic Plastic Machinery, Motan-Colortronia ISRA VISION, etc will address various aspects of plastics applications in food industry.
During the two day seminar, the subject expert will further address key aspects like new opportunities in film production – innovative packaging solutions, new trends and challenges in sheet extrusion for rigid packaging applications, innovative food packaging solutions through cooperation along the value Chain, etc.
The seminar is supported by Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore – a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial research, New Delhi.
