At NY hotels, room service now includes groceries

One of the biggest expenses for consumers travelling abroad is eating out or relying on room service for each meal, however, many hotels do offer self-catering kitchen facilities for guests who want to cook for themselves. One of those companies is Affinia Hotels, which is now enabling its New York customers to order fresh groceries directly to their room.
As one of its TLC Programs, the chain has teamed up with grocery delivery service FreshDirect to stock room fridge and cupboards with the fruit and vegetables guests will need during their stay. Customers can currently choose between the Work Smart or Healthy Spin kits, which offer a different range of healthy ingredients for meals, as well as snacks to take out on trips, and the company hopes to offer more options in the near future. The kits – which cost USD 75 each – are placed ready in the guest’s room before they check in and can be restocked at any time.
Currently available at the Affinia Dumont and expanding to other New York Affinia hotels soon, the kits help tourists remain healthy and save money while enjoying a trip away from home. Are there other ways hotels could replicate domestic comforts to make guests literally feel at home?
