Alnatura Migros new organic concept store opens in August


Alnatura of Germany and Switzerland’s largest retailer Migrosrevealed that the launch of a new concept store for organic markets is planned to open in late August in Zurich-Hongg. The concept was announced by Götz Rehn, founder and managing director of Alnatura GmbH in Bickenbach, and Jörg Blunschi, Leader of the Migros Cooperative Zurich (GMT). To be called Alnatura Migros organic markets is based on the successful concept in Germany, Alnatura the Super Natural Markets.
Alnatura and Migros see many similarities in their business principles: sustainability, cultural initiatives and the demand for a sensible economy are both a fundamental concern: “In collaboration with Migros, we see a big opportunity to be more meaningful for customers and to strengthen the organic initiatives in Switzerland, “said Mr Rehn.
Alnatura has reported 13% more revenue for the six months to March 2012. The organic trading company said jobs for 100 new employees could be created with a double-digit sales increase expected for the current fiscal year ending September 2012.
At least ten new Alnatura Super Natural Markets are planned by Alnatura for 2012, giving the group 79 stores in 30 cities in Germany. In March the fifth Alnatura Hamburg branch opened and over the summer, openings followed in Bonn, Darmstadt, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Tübingen. Stores have an average sales area of 550sqm.
Alnatura also produces a range of 100% organic Biobaby textiles sold through its stores and at other retailers such as dm drugstore and Rewe and launched a new organic cotton line of Babybio products at BioFach 2012.
